In this second LP instructional video; Adventures In Rhythm, Close-Up on Bongos and Timbales, master percussionists and LP clinician Richie "Gajate" Garcia builds upon the basic concept of Latin rhythm studied in our first video "Close-Up on Congas". In addition to the exercises, "Close-Up on Bongos and Timbales" showcases a full Salsa band (including Luis Conte on congas) performing 3 songs that you can play along with. Richie begins by showing the viewer essential patterns used in playing bongo (much as the Martillo rhythm), timbales, maracas, guiro, and cowbell, while explaining their place in the context of a Latin rhythm section. Richie, an experienced professional player and music instructor takes the viewer through the basic rhythm exercises, working logically towards the more intricate patterns. The video includes play-along exercises for practicing each instrument along with the band, both with Richie and alone. The enclosed exercise book includes musical notation of the exercises played in the video, as well as additional lessons for developing technique. Great for beginning and intermediate players, "Close-Up on Bongos and Timbales" is an important addition to every player's library.
